Supply chain & Suppliers

Our supply chain plays a central role in our business, ensuring excellence in execution and sustainability in our value chain throughout all processes.

The supply chain function is responsible for the Company's procurement, planning, manufacturing, engineering and sustainability. It plays a central role in making sure that we execute all our processes with excellence while minimizing our environmental footprint; from sourcing raw materials and manufacturing to delivering the end product to our customers.

Our suppliers

For the manufacturing of our products, we collaborate with 750 local suppliers, for both raw and packaging material, as well as for services or goods procured for our facilities.

A large and complex network of suppliers provides us with our ingredients, packaging and services. Although we do not own or control our suppliers, we have a responsibility to ensure that the way they work reflects our standards.

The nature of our business means that we source as much as we can locally. For example, approximately 90 percent of raw materials we use originates from local producers.

In order to use raw materials more efficiently we work closely with suppliers to minimise the impact of production and processes, for example by using lighter weight packaging.

Our Principles

As part of ongoing effort to develop and strengthen our relationships with suppliers, we have adopted the Supplier Guiding Principles for use with our direct suppliers. These Principles are based on the belief that good corporate citizenship is essential to our long-term business success and must be reflected in our relationships and actions in the marketplace, the workplace, the environment and the community. We are pleased to work with suppliers to ensure an understanding of and compliance with the requirements set forth in our Supplier Guiding Principles.

Supplier Guiding Principles

Reducing the volume of packaging

Reducing the amount of materials we use in our packaging is one of the most effective ways to reduce their environmental impact. This action helps to reduce carbon emissions throughout the life cycle of the package: from production to transport and then to final availability.

Taking care of packaging recycling after use

Our company is a founding member of Green Dot Cyprus, the licensed Collective Packaging and Packaging Waste Management System, which operates in the operation of Collective Alternative Management System, i.e. the recovery and utilization of packaging. The cooperation with the institution is certified by the presence of Green Dot in 100% of our products and discharges the company from the obligation to recycle its own products after use. Nevertheless, our company is constantly striving towards an increase of recycling rate in Cyprus.

Recycling solid waste from the production process

We aim to reduce and recycle the solid waste that is inevitably generated. To achieve that, we work with licensed recycling agencies and government agencies.

Managing liquid waste

In all our production units, waste management is carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation and the Group's Liquid Waste Quality Standard. We perform analyses on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to comply with the legal parameters and with the company's internal procedures. The factory in Nicosia has a liquid waste treatment plant, while the Kykkos plant has a waste treatment system throughout the production process. In addition, it is licensed by the Department of Environment and complies with strict regulations to return water safely to the environment. As part of the investment in the Nicosia plant in 2015, we proceeded to expand and modernize the biological treatment facilities, according to the innovative technology MBBR (Moving Bed - Biological-Reactors), the leading and innovative method of biological treatment.
